Since being established the WMS, the Victorian State Government and Upper Murray Family Care have worked together to provide WMS with the premises they currently occupy at 20 Emerald Avenue in West Wodonga. Due to the growth experienced in membership, the uncertain tenure of the existing premises and the residential nature of the actual location, WMS have commenced a project to access facilities that will provide for our existing and future needs
We are currently concluding negotiations with Wodonga Council for the long term allocation of a suitable block of land on which we can erect a facility that meets our needs. Our plans are for a shed of at least 30m x 15m that will provide a workshop for manual activities as well as separate sections for passive and recreation activities, kitchen and storage facilities. We envisage that the facilities would be potentially inclusive of broader community use.
The Fundraising Project
As the total cost of this building project is estimated to exceed $230K, it is planned to complete project in two stages. The first stage is expected to require funding in the vicinity of $150K and to commence the project, WMS has established a dedicated “Wodonga Men’s Shed Building Fund”. All contributions and expenditure pertaining to the building fund will be included in our monthly financial reports and audited in our annual financial reporting. Please help us to reach our target of $230,000.
In September the WMS received notification from the Vic. Gov that they had been successful in securing funding of $60,000 under the “Strengthening Men’s Shed Program”.
The WMS look forward to the involvement of our corporate supporters and the community by purchasing a Brick as part of “Buy a Brick campaign”
